Notion AI review: Is it worth it?
ChatGPT has been a hot topic in town recently. People are using them, and they are sold by the AI chatbot. I tried it too, and I am sold by the technology. At the same time, I came across the Notion AI then and signed up for its waitlist. Recently, I received an invitation to try the Notion AI. It’s a virtual assistant to help you generate and edit content for various purposes. So I have to give it a go.
Content
Here’s a list of services that you can ask the AI to write:
Brainstorm idea
Blog Post
Outline
Social Media Post
Press Release
Creative Story
Essay
Poem
Meeting Agenda
Pros and Cons list
Job description
Sales Email
Recruiting Email
I am impressed by the AI. It can generate any content. Looking at the list, I assume that the developers have set the parameters, for example, the usage of formal corporate language and the tone of the message, to the various category. Hence, each type is tailored to different audiences.
I am most interested to know how AI will create a creative story. How creative would it be? But before I test that out, let’s learn to use Notion AI.
Select “Creative Story”
Key in the description.
Click “Generate”
It will start to create a story.
This is the story that the Notion AI wrote.
And you can request for the AI to “continue writing”.
I am very impressed by what Notion AI can deliver. It's a pretty good plot. On top of that, it even came up with a title.
After seeing this, I want to know if ChatGPT can deliver a creative story too. Would it write the same story? I tested it out and submitted the same prompts. This is ChatGPT's story.
Based on this experiment alone, Notion AI fares better. It created a brand new story. ChatGPT retained the characters’ personalities and fused the plots. However, it fell flat. Notion AI is more “creative” than ChatGPT.
However, there are some biases in this experiment. I cannot use the same prompt for ChatGPT because it does not know that I am expecting it to create a creative story. Unlike in Notion, the AI is programmed to write a creative story. I may have to write a more appropriate prompt in ChatGPT for it to deliver a better result.
As of now, Notion AI is free to use.
Here are some thoughts after using the various AI performances.
I am impressed by both Notion AI and ChatGPT, but I do have some fear. Technology is so advanced now. For example, AI can assist with content creation - be it brainstorming or writing the content. In addition, AI can help with some roles or even take over the entire operation. One example is answering frequently asked questions.
Nonetheless, it also means that there is a need to learn and understand how AI can help improve your business process and learn new skills to stay ahead of the curve.
I look forward to trying out new technologies, especially in the marketing industry.
I hope this post gives you a better idea of Notion AI. If you like this post, remember to share it.
x, Esther
